Last month I received a bottle of CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Nude Beige from BzzAgent. Since I’ve heard a lot of good things about this product & recommendations that its good for oily skin I was happy to give it a try.
The product claims, as per the CoverGirl website “All-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long.”
To understand where I’m coming from when describing my experience, I have combination skin, some dry patches & some oily patches. The first time I applied the foundation, I used a stippling brush. I felt the coverage was light which is what I prefer. The foundation worked on the areas of my face which are oily, it blended well and gave the right amount of coverage and set to a matte finish. However, on the areas where I have dry patches, I felt like the foundation clung to the dry skin and made them more noticeable. After a few hours of wear, I felt like the foundation still looked fairly good and the dry areas looked better as a result of my natural oils mixing in with the foundation.
I thought that this foundation might work better for me during the summer months when I’m not dealing with dry patches but I thought I’d try applying it differently & give it another shot.
The second time I applied the foundation, I used a dampened beauty sponge & had much better results. The foundation didn’t cling to the dry patches and looked much better overall. The key for me seems to be in the application so I definitely recommend using a dampened beauty sponge instead of a brush.
Key thoughts on the product…
- I like that it comes in a pump
- It provides light coverage, can be built up a bit
- It lasted an 8 hour day without much loss in coverage
- My oily areas stayed fairly matte, there was a bit of shine after hours of wear
- I don’t like that it didn’t blend well on dry skin when using a brush
- I prefer a foundation without SPF since I like using my own SPF product
I think if your skin is oily without any dry patches you’d like this foundation, especially in the summer months when you factor in sweating. I don’t think this will work well for someone with very dry skin though.
I’m happy to have received this product complimentary for testing purposes as I’ve been curious about it. I do own other foundations & BB creams that I prefer but I think this is a good drugstore option if you are looking for light coverage with lasting power.
