Diary of A Girly Girl

Over the last week I have been going through my makeup collection in an effort to organize, declutter & see what I have (I will have some videos on the process). I don’t have a huge collection but it is large enough that I sometimes forget what I have or products get buried in my vanity drawer.

I decided to create a basket of items that I want to focus on using….so I  shopped my collection & picked out a few things & put them in a small basket that will sit on my vanity. Whenever I sit down to do my makeup, I’ll start with the items in the basket.

Now I didn’t put in a product from every makeup category but instead products I need to test or products that are almost empty. I also tried to keep it to about 10 products so that I can see everything & I don’t have to dig around too much.

It’s been about 5 days & I have been very good about using the products in my basket. I’m actually excited to pick out products from the basket because I feel like I’m working towards either making a decision on how the products perform or finishing up products that are almost used up. I do get a sense of satisfaction when I’ve used up a makeup product. Do you feel that way too? ♥

I definitely DO feel satisfaction when I use up a product. It’s hard for me as I am a freelance make-up artist so I have A LOT that wouldn’t get used up as quickly cuz I may not use it on myself as much. But I’ve kind of put myself on a make-up purchasing strike so I can use up a lot of things like foundations, mascaras, eyeliners, primers etc. I’m confident that I’m doing semi-well ahaha.

I did not realize till now that your blog was a place I could subscribe too! But this is the first time I’ve looked at your blog from my phone and I just noticed this section! I do feel that way too… I actually feel bad when a product just sits in my bathroom… I have tons of samples from all of my subscriptions that just sit untouched… I do tell myself “Nikki you need to use that …whatever it is…” My problem is perfectionism I always wait for the “perfect time” to use all those samples but just never find the right time! Oh well! I like your basket idea a lot!
