So with the September Ipsy bag arriving soon I thought it was time to share my thoughts on my August Ipsy bag.
I didn’t care for the makeup bag & I’ll probably ask my 4 year old niece if she wants it as a pencil case.
The Lord & Berry kajal kohl liner goes on very smoothly & easily….but it does smudge & transfer if I wear it for more than just a few hours. I do have oily eyelids & I’m sure that’s impacting the product. I have used it with & without eyelid primer & I do get a bit more wear with the primer. I won’t purchase this $16 USD product because there are better eyeliners out there – even at the drugstore – check out Maybelline’s Master Drama by Eyestudio eyeliner instead.
I am enjoying Urban Decay’s Perversion mascara. It is lengthening & thickening, it doesn’t flake & it’s not a pain in the behind to remove. It reminds me of the L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black but more intense. I find the look is still natural though & not a fake eye lash type of look. At $22 USD or $26 CAD I’m on the fence about whether or not I’d purchase it. It is a good mascara but for another $6 CAD I can get my holy grail Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill mascara.
I’ve used the dr. brandt pores no more pore refiner primer a handful of times. It’s a tinted primer & it claims to minimize the appearance of pores by diffusing light, blur lines & imperfections, mattify the skin, erase shine, act as a shield to prevent pores from being clogged by makeup & has antibacterial action according to the company’s website. It goes on smoothly & feels velvety. I do have combination oily skin – which this product is targeted for – but I found I was oily half way through the day. It do find my skin is oiler in the summer months so I’m going to hold off & try this again in a month & see how I feel about it. It retails for $45 USD or $55 CAD.
At first I was excited that the Coastal Scents blush sample had 2 blushes but as I used it, I think it would make more sense for it to be 1 blush. It was a bit hard to get enough product on my brush – don’t get me wrong its doable – I just think that a bigger sample of 1 blush would have been better. The blushes are soft & silky, have good staying power & I do like the shades. The peach matte shade is Fresh & the rose is Elegant & has the tiniest amount of shimmer. If I was in the market for blush I’d buy a palette which normally retails for $15.95 USD for 10 blushes ( singles are $7.95 USD).
I don’t like the You’re The Balm Grape lip balm from Absolute New York. I don’t like anything grape scented & I don’t like the glitter in the product. For the most part I use EOS lip balms so I’m passing this product along to someone who might like it. It retails for $6 USD for a duo & the company doesn’t ship internationally.
How do you feel about your August Ipsy bag now that you’ve tried out the products?
