Diary of A Girly Girl

With January’s Ipsy bag due to arrive soon, I thought I’d share my thoughts on my November & December Ipsy bags.  I’m a bit late on the November bag but better late than never right? 😉

November Ipsy Bag

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base in Submissive I didn’t expect to like let alone love this product. Its one of my favourite products now. It’s a gold toned cream shadow & I think it compliments any skin tone. It doesn’t irritate my eyes & lasts all day.

J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion I’ve only swatched this & haven’t actually used it. I really need to try it out.

TEMPTU S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl I received this about a week or two later as it wasn’t included in my bag. The S/B stands for silicone based. A little goes a long way. I’ve used it once but I think its a bit too pink for me. I might pass this on to one of my sisters but I’l try it once more first.

Elizabeth Mott You’re So FINE Eyeliner in Glitterati This black liquid liner has silver glitter & while I did wear it once, its just not my thing. It applied decently & was easy enough to remove with my regular makeup remover. I’ll pass this along to one of my sisters.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray I love that this is a Canadian brand ! I don’t use hairspray often – probably 2-3 times a year but I made it a point to use it over the holidays & I don’t have any complaints. It held my hair in place & didn’t feel too stiff.

December Ipsy Bag

Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish in #5 Orchid I find the packaging odd, I’d prefer it to just be in a pot, I don’t feel like I get enough product on the applicator & I have to keep going back in. The shade is a bit light for me so it’s good for a minimal makeup look. I don’t think I’ll reach for it much because of the packaging.

Nyx Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow I like the scent, its a sweet scent, but I don’t like the colour payoff on me. It makes me look like I’ve applied concealer to my lips. And it felt a bit dry & gritty, I expected it to be more buttery. I’ll pass this along to my fair skinned sister, it’ll look better on her.

Sexy Hair 450 Blow Out I was trying to finish off another product so I only tried this out this week. It smells decent – like coconut I think – & it left my hair feeling soft. Whether or not its protecting my hair from styling heat I can’t say but I’ll continue to use it.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara I haven’t tried this yet but I’ve heard great things about it. As soon as I finish my current mascaras I’ll try this one out. I’m trying not to have more than 2 mascaras open at once but I currently have 4 going.
BWC Facial Cleanser 3% AHA Complex Another product I haven’t tried yet. I’m always hesitant to try out skincare, especially anything with exfoliants because of a reaction I had earlier this year. I’m going to pass this on to my mom since she likes exfoliants & she’s been talking about trying something with AHA.

Writing this post has made me realize that I’m getting more samples in my Ipsy bags than I can keep up with. I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription. The most recent bag cost $17.79 because of shipping & the exchange rate. I’m not seeing the value for myself & I end up giving away half the products. How are you feeling about your Ipsy subscription? Is it worth it? Should I try Birchbox since they are now shipping to Canada?
